New Board Appointments for ASC

Minister for Finance and Deregulation, Lindsay Tanner today announced the appointment of four new directors to the board of Australia’s submarine and shipbuilding company, ASC Pty Ltd.

Ms Sally Pitkin, Mr John (Jack) O’Connell AO, Mr Bruce Carter and Mr David Miles AM  will commence their appointments from 1 January 2010.  Ms Pitkin and Mr O’Connell have been appointed for three-year terms, and Mr Carter and Mr Miles have been appointed for two-year terms.

They will join ASC Board Chair, Vice Admiral Chris Ritchie AO RANR, Director Mr Geoff Phillips, and newly appointed Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr Stephen Ludlam, bringing the total Board membership to seven. 

Lindsay Tanner said the appointees bring a range of skills and experience in legal and financial matters to the board, and will enhance the board’s high level of expertise and standards of governance.

 “The distinguished backgrounds of Ms Piktin, Mr O’Connell, Mr Miles and Mr Carter and the diversity of their careers will make them excellent additions to the board, and we look forward to their strong contribution to ASC.”

Lindsay Tanner thanked the two outgoing directors, Mr Michael Terlet AO and Dr Bill Schofield AM for their contribution to ASC.
