Two New Directors Appointed to the Board of Australia Post

Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Stephen Conroy, and Minister for Finance and Deregulation, Lindsay Tanner, today announced the appointments of Mrs Jenny Seabrook and the Honourable Trish White as Directors of the board of Australia Post.

The appointments fill two current vacancies on the Board and are for three years from 8 July 2010.

Mrs Seabrook has more than 25 years’ experience as a company director. She has a background in investment banking, capital markets, and as a chartered accountant. She also has significant State and Federal Government consultancy experience.

Mrs Seabrook is also a special advisor to Gresham Partners Limited and Deputy Chairperson of Electricity Networks Corporation where she is the Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee.

The Honourable Trish White has had a distinguished career in the Australian Public Service as a senior engineer within government agencies.

Ms White was elected to the South Australian Parliament in 1994 and served in the Shadow Ministry until 2002. From 2002 until 2005 Ms White served as a Cabinet Minister in the South Australian State Government.

Ms White is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is currently Executive Strategic Adviser with Worley Parsons.

Both Senator Conroy and Minister Tanner welcome the new Directors and acknowledged that they would expand the depth of commercial expertise on the Board.

The Board’s role is to determine Australia Post’s objectives, strategies and policies and, as far as practicable, ensure it operates in a manner consistent with sound commercial practice.
